Living with a Seal

What I find very impressive is you learn that Jesse is a very wealthy guy who does not need to put himself through this. His life is terribly hard for one month – multiple, difficult workouts every single day and not much sleep. The guy doesn’t need to get better – he just wants to and I loved that. What is more impressive and interesting is SEAL’s point of view. He’s a simple guy that doesn’t get caught up in what is seems we all do. He’s a man of few words, but chooses them wisely. One of the memorable ones “when you think you’re at your limit physically, you’re only 40% of the way there.” They would go for a run in 15 degree weather and SEAL would wear shorts and t-shirt. When Jesse asked if he was going to put more clothes on, SEAL would reply “Nah bro, it’s 80 degrees in my mind and that’s all that matters.” When you see what this guy does and get a glimpse into his mind, you learn when you get your mind to think right, you can do so much more physically. At the end Jesse is not only in great shape and showed incredible improvement, but as he reflects on his time with Seal, it’s not the physical improvement he most appreciate. It’s the way he thinks and the simplicity in which he lives. Again, not a hard read – but well worth it for how quick it is. Just a different way of looking at life and one I find a lot of us (me for sure) need as we get wrapped up in the constant “go go” way of life with kids, jobs, and all the pulls of life.
